Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
RSI describes pain or discomfort in the muscles, tendons, or nerves caused by repetitive movements or sustained postures, often linked to work, hobbies, or daily activities. It commonly affects the neck, shoulders, elbows, forearms, wrists, and hands, leading to symptoms such as aching, stiffness, tingling, or weakness.
Common examples of RSI include tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), De Quervain’s tenosynovitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, and tendonitis affecting the wrist or shoulder. These conditions are often associated with activities like computer work, lifting, repetitive hand movements, or using tools for long periods.
At Just In Time Physiotherapy, every patient receives a comprehensive assessment to identify the underlying cause — whether it’s poor posture, muscle imbalance, overuse, or nerve irritation. Treatment typically combines hands-on therapy, targeted exercise rehabilitation, ergonomic advice, and activity modification to relieve symptoms and prevent recurrence.
For persistent pain or inflammation, additional treatment options such as corticosteroid injections may also be considered to support faster recovery and long-term relief.
